Rhino Products are delighted to share details of Chester Zoo’s recent trip to Africa, supported by our partnership as Corporate Champions & Conservation Enablers.
Our sponsorship with the zoo has proven to not only be vital in providing consumables to operate Chester Zoo’s laboratory in Kenya, but supporting a much vaster scope of work.
The world-leading research that Chester Zoo has pioneered through their successful Rhino breeding programme is not only beneficial for rhinos, but can also be applied to aid the re-population of other megaherbivores.
Whilst in Kenya, the Chester Zoo conservation team met with regional partners, exploring new collaboration opportunities, all made possible through Rhino Product’s sponsorship. The team also visited the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, where they provided training in faecal sample collection methods, used to help monitor elephant health. The sanctuary works closely with Chester Zoo to rescue and release orphaned baby elephants; also supporting the local communities in which the elephants share their home.
Continuing their journey, the team joined the Northern Rangelands Trust, a community conservancy membership organisation, and Reteti Elephant Sanctuary keepers, in tracking three bull calves. The calves were first released into the wild following the rehabilitation process as Reteti.
Rhino Products are extremely proud to be supporting Chester Zoo on their conservation mission and look forward to seeing their continued work, both at home and further afield.
